William J. "Bill" Kalyniak

William J. Kalyniak Obituary

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of William J. Kalyniak at the age of 94. Bill passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the Russell and District Personal Care Home with   family by his side.

William J. was born on March 17, 1932 in the R.M. of Boulton, Manitoba to Alex E. and Cornelia Kalyniak (Zegalski). Bill attended Tuckersmith School in the early years and then completed           High School in Angusville, Manitoba. After high school he farmed with his parents in the R.M. of Silver Creek.

On October 19, 1963 William J. married Lillian J. Bereza of  Solsgirth, Manitoba. They had two sons Nigel and Kelly.

In 1971 Bill replaced his father’s position as councilor for 19 years in Ward 5 in the R.M. of Silver Creek. He was elected Reeve for 16 years making 35 years total service which he had a passionate devotion to the rate payers who resided there.

William J. was a lifelong farmer and had many talents which included carpentry, plumbing and taxidermy just to name a few. He had a great passion and respect for nature and outdoors. Bill was a proven marksman in hunting and an expert trapper.

In July 2014 Bill suffered a stroke, which severely impacted his mobility. He resided in Rossburn Health Centre in Rossburn, Manitoba for many years, then moved to Russell and District      Personal Care Home for the remainder of his years.

Bill enjoyed spending time entertaining family, neighbours and friends. He was a loving husband, father and Gido and will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Alex E. and Cornelia, sister Jean Teichman, brother-in-law Otto.

Surviving: his wife of 62 years Lillian, son Kelly, son Nigel (Cynthia), grandchildren Kassidy, Kobi and Kiley. Brothers-in- law Jerry (Sheilla) Bereza, Danny (Jackie) Bereza, Sister-in law Janice (Jim) Castle as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
